Ed, why would you think that Irak was a threat to Israel right to exist ?

Irak was not even a threat for Koweit any more. Not before years, that was. And on a blackmail power struggle, with possible WMD in store or to come, not a military campaign.

Ed - you seem to be less narrow minded and pre-disposed to arguments that differ. I'd suggest to you that this war was not primarily for Israel. I also disagree with the emphasis on WMD. I believe the real reason is the tyranny that Saddam has committed against his own people and his neighbors. He killed more Moslems than any other tyrant in history. He murdered, he raped, he tortured. He was a threat to Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. 9/11 and WMD gave us a reason that was a bit more PR than I would like. I am sure that he has WMD but I doubt that it will ever be found. It is either in Syria or destroyed. Some of the "deck of card" prisoners may talk but we will see.

To me it is sufficient that we used our power to rid the Iraqi people of a tyrant.

OK - so how can you say that this war was fought primarily or only for Israel? Can you see what I'm driving at?

Will Israel benefit from the removal of a tyrant? Yes, of course, but so will Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Jordan, etc.

Will Israel benefit from oil? Perhaps, but commerce goes both ways. The history so far is that Arab nations that have made peace with Israel have benefited more than Israel from mutual commerce.

To me, those that make the argument that Israel caused this war and then back it up with some ancient writings that they feel Jews follow, are strictly haters, a fringe, hoping to drive a wedge between Israel and the American people. History has shown that this will not happen as Americans vote for what is right, not hatred of others.
