OT:<Buddhism will be the only religion standing; it allows for dual "citizenship".>

Dual citizenship is confusing and wimpy. What's yearned for is Certainty and Vigor. So, Athena, the Goddess of War, with her spear, helmet, and shield, is universally followed (but not worshipped) today. Buddha with his lotus blossoms gathers dust in museums, neither followed nor worshipped.

And no one, at least no one with power, is following this:

38 "You have heard that it was said, "An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.' 39But I tell you not to resist an evil person. But whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also. 40If anyone wants to sue you and take away your tunic, let him have your cloak also. 41And whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two. 42Give to him who asks you, and from him who wants to borrow from you do not turn away......43 "You have heard that it was said, "You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' 44But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you,.....

The historian James Warburg summed up that 'we, the inheritors of the Judeo-Christian position, have preached peace and practiced war'. The fact is that our civilisation has for centuries practised neither the Jewish teaching of justice under moral law, nor the Greek teaching of rational thought and behaviour, nor the Christian teaching of love, compassion and universal brother- and sisterhood.

What most Christian missionaries establish in other places is built into Islam from the start. Muslims are obligated to give 10% of their net income to the poor. You will be hard pressed to find a Muslim community which does not provide interest free loans to the poor.

I thought the zakat was 2.5%. If the above ideal is actually realized, one has to wonder about the poverty, lack of health care, etc. in much of the Muslim world.

So this begs the question of why the hell is anyone going out for missionary work. If saving a soul is the goal, then saving an American soul right here should be as good as saving another soul anywhere. Logic suggests it is much more productive concentrate on where you already have a good footing than waste your energy where you are not wanted.

They do this, too. It's called home missions.
