Hi energyplay, At least eight of China's poorer provinces, including Shanxi, Inner Mongolia and Ningxia, have reported Sars cases. Officials said hospitals in those areas may not be able to cope with contagion and the influx of patients. The rural provinces are the Achilles' heel for China. Should SARS reach epidemic proportions in any of those areas, the results would be simply disastrous to the overall Chinese economy. There are literally hundreds of millions of extremely poor Chinese people in those rural areas. Poor diet and nutrition is already an extreme problem. Collectively speaking, their immune systems are likely much weaker than the immune systems of those folks in the larger cities. Health care is minimal to non-existent. For the Chinese, this epidemic could reach historic proportions, not unlike earlier influenza epidemics or even the plague epidemic in Europe, or cholera epidemics around the world. With the fatality rate running around 5% or so, multiply that rate by the potential for hundreds of millions of exposures in rural China, and the possibilities become readily apparent. KJC

Now this is a much more credible scare than that we've been seeing! Sack some officials, tell that is happening everywhere tell that people out there are much more likely to get -at the moment only big conurbations have been affected- and pretty soon we have a a scare than even Michael Crichton could make a book of!!! I hope contractors' would start turning down potential deals here in Asia so that the market turns to my side, since I also want to profit from this thing too!!!
