UW:

Thanks for your insightful post.

We Americans do not understand >>>thousands of Pakistanis jumped in the air in joy knowing that they will get to fight a "holy" war and welcoming the chance to be a martyr<<<. Some have the attitude, bring them on. We will kill them all.

Your post is the closest one I have ever read that agrees with my outlook. I don't have any doubts, and I am under no illusions that what has/is taking place in the ME will be simple or quick. I do not know if those who wish to fallow a jihad that sadistically terrorizes, and murders Americans realize it or not, but the terms "Let's Roll" or "Bring it on" are truly serious comments, and very sincere. I believe more than just "Some" Americans are fully committed and utter it under their breath when they see and hear these types of demonstrations.

IMO martyrdom is fundamental Islam's form of "shock and awe" and I agree that few if any in the western world understand this attitude...or want to.

But we cannot kill them all. They are never going to run out of suicide bombers. We may never be willing to affect the changes that really have to be made by us. We may never be willing to assist them in making the changes they really need to make

There needs to be much more work done by both sides, but it seems like an endless stalemate to me. My hope is that during reconstruction there is more than a small emphasis placed on education and employment for all Iraqis.

I've gone so far as to wonder what it would be like if Iraqis adopt a constitution, and the citizenry were armed, (as we are here in America), but that is getting WAY ahead of the situation.
