I read the full article Rambi cited and found the comments in the intro as interesting as the principles the rest of you focused on. But there is a glaring contradiction - group hatred and nastiness is often incited by governments and then reflected in individuals (because it serves political ends to motivate voters behind an angry cause). How can you work at the individual level to be kinder and gentler if you accept what politicians say at face value, even as they incite groupthink and collective hatred? That was my point...perhaps it's not as evident as I thought...
