Hating groups is hating groups- it's only a difference in degree. I totally agree with you about that. Having an enemy, whom you know is out to get you for specific reasons, is different, imo, than hating a group. I'd say Mr. Bush has tried to recognize that, with his "We like Muslims, just not the Muslims who caused 9/11" talk. Remember that? I thought that was a good example of Mr. Bush trying hard not to make Muslims the other. Of course his administration did a very poor job with the French propaganda, that was just stupid, imo. I'm glad you brought that up, since that anti-French stuff really bothered me, firstly because it was so stupid, and secondly because it was so out of proportion.

Politicians can only demonize, if we the electorate allow ourselves to be manipulated. Really, the responsibility is always on the individual. We all have a choice - we can be a lemming, filled with hate for whatever group we are told to hate, or we can resist. If we do not resist, the fault is ours, imo.
