Thanks KLP,

But I just don't see #2 as an achievable goal. If Iraq should become the "new" beacon of democracy, peace, trade and learning with the very highest standard of living ever attained by the human species,... the unbelievers will still be saying:

1) It [preemption #1] was an accident;
2) It was never a necessary risk;
3) It made the world hate us;
4) It should have been done this way, ___; and
5) It will cause the _____ to use their WMDs to blow up _____, before they get preempted.

Not that I am complaining. Humanity needs its "unbelievers." Diversity is our best last hope for survival. And if they wait long enough, "unbelief" will hold sway once again. <g>

But it always seems to me that when you decide to fight a war the victory, in and of itself, should be worth the effort,... whether it is acclaimed as such or not.
