16:13 ET Capital One blows past consensus amid lower charge-offs (COF) 37.29 -0.13: Reports Q1 (Mar) earnings of $1.35 per share, $0.32 better than the Multex consensus of $1.03. "The charge-off rate came in at the low end of our indicated range in the first quarter of 2003. We expect somewhat lower charge-offs in the second quarter and lower still in the second half of the year, ending the year in the low six percent range." Co says it is pleased to see a peak in the charge-off rate and is confident it will achieve its earnings target of at least $4.55 for the yr (consensus $4.49).
