Yes. It is the same simplicity that Saddam and every other immoral thug engages in. Their own selfish interests overrides all other concerns including the lives of others.

Getting in bed with Joseph Stalin during WWII was one of the best deals ever made. The Soviets lost 20 million people in that war. Many people more learned in the art of warcraft than I believe that we might not have won, otherwise. That was clearly a case of the enemy of my enemy is my friend.

Cozying up to tyrants in the Middle East isn't so easy to accept. The truth is that OPEC has us by the balls. All of us - USA, Europe, China, Japan, every country that imports oil.

Whether you drive an SUV or a moped, or get everything delivered via Fedex, or even just walk to the corner store to buy something that was trucked in, you need oil, you rely on oil, and you would have a hard time living without oil.
