SARS, Famine, Earthquakes... good old days when the only threats to world's economy were Brazil and Argentina :-)

My father says that disgrace never comes unaccompanied!

<It looks like there will be a famine and earthquake disasters soon, on top of war and disease already in place. >

Jay, Taupo erupting, after a large comet impact into the Pacific Ocean, with vast tsunamis washing away all low-lying human presence on the Pacific Rim, would make things really interesting.

There are so many things which can go wrong and no reason that they can't all do it at once.

In the human realm, one tends to lead to the other, like a golfer having a blow-up! One bad shot leads straight to another as mental stability goes out the window.

2003 could yet be very newsworthy.

I expect that all will go right and by Xmas, people will look back and wonder what on earth they were worried about. Canceled air travel means much less money wasted on boondoggle travel, expensive accommodation, restaurants and stuff. They can stay home and do some actual work.

It's a bit like Korea crumbling in 1997/1998. They canceled their trips to NZ [down by 90% or more], bought a CDMA phone and got back to work!

That's going to happen on a grand scale. That's good! People flying around the world wasting money should have been banned years ago.
