My assessment of the anti-war protests outside the US was that it is partially driven by anti-US sentiments. You have to remember that after 9/11 there was a ton empathy for US. With the exception of Arab countries, most other places were with us. So to dismiss the massive ant-war rallies as hatred of US is a very big stretch, at least in regards with the average protestor.

When it comes to the leadership of these movements (or countries) I don't think the issue was so much anti-US or anti-war (or pro-humanitarian for that matter) as it was to contain US. I don't have a problem with this because I cannot see how it could have been otherwise. When one takes steps that genuinely scares others, it is only expected that they'll gang up on you. It doesn't mean I like it. But I look at it more along the lines of "nothing personal; it is just business" than see it as they really hate us and want to destroy us.

What we really need is a set of international laws and institutions that are fair and have teeth to them. The international arena cannot remain a free for all jungle. We need something that everyone is held accountable to.

You are justified and have a right to your own thoughts ....

Don't let anyone shout you down ...

The fact is, there is little distinction ... the people behind the anti-war, some would say anti-America, movement in Europe and that movement in the U.S. are one and the same.

Shared resources, shared sources of funding; it will all come out in the wash one day.

There is no distinction.
