It ought to be fairly easy to tell if Galloway was getting that kind of money from Iraq. Here in the US the sources and amounts of income of politicians (including spouses) is a public record. If his lifestyle is more lavish than it should be on his income, that raises questions. How many houses does he have? What did they cost? What does he drive? Does he take a lot of trips abroad on his own money?

Unless it's all in numbered offshore accounts, just sitting there, not being spent. Then the government would have to track it. But money almost always leaves a trace, unless it's hawala/hundi/chop money.

I just been discussing the Galloway situation with my wife. We are both of the suspicion that the evidence was planted.

Over here, the first cry from the media would be "follow the money!" If he had major income he can't account for, he is done. Should be fairly easy to check. He has the advantage of British libel laws.
