To: tonka552000 who wrote (17747 ) 4/22/2003 11:33:19 AM From: Jim Willie CB Read Replies (2) | Respond to of 89467 I was #316 in the second draft lottery, brother #295 (1971) the higher the number, the less likely to be selected I let loose my "1S" student deferment in junior college year and Pennsylvania went up to 165 that year so I was clear free for life in the first draft lottery, everyone in my Haverfield Hall was huddled around the TV set, about 80 of us, watching with baited breath this was at Ohio State Univ (home of college football champs) that night a guy from Halloran Hall hanged himself he was picked #1 this generation has no idea what the horrors of war are all about we have not encountered a credible enemy since VietNam they fought a brilliant guerrilla war that wore us down they had endless supplies from China and Russia they had endless supply of young men (some forced for sure) they had sacred untouchable zones (SAM City) I have known about 8-10 former VN vets in my life not a single one had even half his marbles intact I lived with one for two years in Mass2shits he was a complete headcase he cleared out the garage one weekend he threw away 20 of my belongings without asking I was surprised he didnt toss out my expensive bicycle he yelled at me for objecting he took 20 different vitamins and supplements he was a weightlifter but that didnt dissuade me from going nose to nose he tossed some tools, garden equipment, cinder blocks, spare lumber, and my bicycle pump I attributed it to "the VietNam post traumatic stress syndrome" this current younger generation has no fear of war heck, guys 35-50 have no fear of war I liked that article recently that tied the Kondratiev Winter cycle with the War Cycle memories fade on ravages of both debts and wars one kills finances, leaving buildings empty one kills people, leaving buildings in rubble / jim p.s. excuse me, but was that an erasure of a Dow +50 start?
