Xybernaut Awarded GSA Schedule for Government Technology Procurements; Streamlines Government Purchases for Mobile/Wearable Products and Solutions
FAIRFAX, Va., Apr 24, 2003 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Xybernaut(R) Corporation (NASDAQ: XYBR) today announced it has been awarded a GSA Schedule by the General Services Administrations (GSA) for mobile/wearable technologies, professional services and solutions.
GSA Schedules are contract instruments utilized by technology/services providers and government agencies to facilitate procurement of goods and services from private-sector companies.
The Xybernaut GSA Schedule, which is effective from April 17, 2003 until April 16, 2008, is classified as a Federal Supply Service (FSS) 70 contract with Contract Number GS-35F-0517N. This contract allows Federal government organizations (both civilian and department of defense) to more easily acquire Xybernaut hardware and professional services.
"In the past, our technologies and services were primarily available to government organizations through third-party GSA Schedules and contracting instruments," stated Edward G. Newman, chairman, president and CEO of Xybernaut. "We will continue to work with these partners by offering our products on their contracts; however, government customers now have the option to work directly with Xybernaut through our own GSA Schedule."
As a GSA contractor under FSS Schedule 70, Xybernaut now directly provides an array of information technology products and services, including equipment, software, professional and electronic commerce services, training, third-party maintenance and support. Any agency of the U.S. Government may take advantage of Schedule 70 task orders to secure products and services in a variety of areas supported by Xybernaut.
GSA Schedules closely mirror commercial buying practices by providing government customers access to state-of-the-art, high-quality commercial services and products at volume discount pricing on a direct-delivery basis. GSA Schedules also offer the potential benefits of shorter lead-times, lower administrative costs and reduced inventories.
GSA awards contracts to companies that meet certain requirements and offer commercial items falling within the generic descriptions of the GSA Schedules. Primary GSA Schedule classifications include:
-- GSA Multiple Award Schedule (MAS) contracts -- indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contracts available to all federal agencies worldwide.
-- Government wide acquisition contracts (GWACS) -- task order or delivery order contracts for information technology established by one agency for government-wide use.
-- Multi-agency contracts (MACs) -- task order or delivery order contracts established by one agency for use by government agencies to obtain a variety of supplies and services.
Many Xybernaut government customers are agencies within the Department of Defense. "With this GSA Schedule contract, Xybernaut can now more easily offer our technologies and expertise across the entire federal sector - from courthouses and office buildings to industrial facilities and laboratories," added Newman.
GSA Schedule pricing and price quotes for Xybernaut mobile/wearable computing technologies and/or professional services can be obtained directly from Xybernaut by calling 1-888-992-3777.
