sure, it can be made to fit, but that is a separate question from whether or not its a good approach. systems highly sensitive to inital conditions should be - and increasingly are eg weather prediction - being modelled as large collections of simple systems rather than as a single grandiose large "chaotic" system.

it's far more in line with the way nature actually works, it's more accurate and it turns out to be a heck of a lot easier.

the last point is probably why so many of my fellow propellorheads hate it.
