Twelve reasons to own stocks today:

1) Your federal government is hard at work manipulating the futures derivatives.
2) Free markets are a myth.
3) Sars doesn’t exist in the free market.
4) Peace reigns throughout the globe.
5) GAAP earnings don’t exist in a free market.
6) The SEC never heard of Enron or Ken Lay.
7) Merril Lynch, Goldman Sachs, etc. never lied to the public about its recommendations.
8) CEO’S care about its shareholders and periodically reduce their compensation
to prove it. American Airlines employees are lying about CEO perks.
9) True valuation metrics are whatever Barron’s can think of to make sense
of earnings that do not exist. Pro forma will soon be replaced by etch-a sketch
balance sheet accounting.
10) The scandals of the past three years are abating. (at least if we don’t publicize them, they are).
11) Earnings are consistently beating expectations of analysts who thought that 20 %
growth would prevail this year (like the last three years) but then realized that calculation of growth prospects might actually have something to do with profit margins and lowered their expectations to break even. Those who lowered didn’t
publicize they did, but who cares, certainly not the media.
12) And last of all, but most important see #1.
