YZ, Autos are 20% of the economy, so I think it's true.

I doubt if Syria is next. They are making some savvy diplomatic ploys, like asking for a UN resolution to remove wmd from The Middle East. The US could never support that, so we would be left pretext short for attacking them.

I think most Americans figure we still owe Iran a good whuppin'. Folks talk about how tough the North Koreans are, but MacArthur went through them in record time. And he had much less of a margin of weapons superiority than we have today. The trick is keeping China friendly while you rape her neighbor.

Yemen will probably be resolved peacefully.

The wild card is Saudi Arabia. If Bush is serious about stopping terrorism, that is the hub of evil, not these podunk countries around them. It would be diplomatic disaster to attack them, but I see it as a possibility unless the creaky regime cracks down on its own people. No one has tried to take Mecca since Reynald of Chatillion during the Crusades. Old Reynald used to offer pilgrims free passage across his principality of Antioch, then attack them and sell them into slavery. When he found out how much moolah they were carrying to Mecca, he figured that he should attack it. His pirate fleet raided up and down The Red Sea and got within a few miles before the Egyptians chased them off.

When Saladin defeated the King of Jerusalem, he personally lopped off Reynald's head. "Kings do not kill kings, but this one is beyond redemption."

Bush, the new Reynald?
