Well, without human resource for recruiting. Al-Qaida won’t be Al-Qaida of today.

Look at the 9/11 hijackers. They where upper and middle class or at least working class people from places like Saudi and Egypt, many of whom went to western universities. They did not have their land taken away, their families killed their countries occupied ect by the US, or by Israel for that matter.

...in the most part of the world, people have far more tolerance to themselves than to the outsiders. Here is the order of where your love goes to:

1) Your family
2) Your region (city, community)
3) Your country.
4) Your race

Their resentment goes to those who are the enemies of any of those four, but it too often seems that this "love" doesn't get expressed in any positive way at least for 4 and maybe 3 at least not by the Arab governments. The best example of this is the fact that other Arabs almost never really try to help the Palestinians. When the Arabs governments ruled the West Bank and Gaza, there was no talk of a Palestinian homeland. Now that Arabs don't control those areas many of the Palestinians are kept in wretched refugee camps.
