The mere fact that we are paying off Mubarek, went to great lengths to reinstall Emir of Kuwait, have backed away from the promises we made to Afghans, etc, shows that we have not changed much.

That wasn't the question I asked. Is there any dictator we would support in the face of a public uprising was the question. And BTW we are not supporting Mubarek, we are giving aid to Egypt. I am not sure of how Mubarek funnels money but I do not believe he is Hussein like in taking such aid and sticking it in his pocket. If giving aid to any country that is run by a dictatorship qualifies as 'supporting the dictator' then imagine the number of evil NGOs. This is precisely what I mean when I say damned if we do and damned we don't.
