Now you are really confused with what is the so-called "their land".

IMO claims that it is all about the Palestinians ring a little hollow when the other Arabs have abused the Palestinians for years. But more then that Israel has controlled the West Bank and Gaza during all of OBL's adult life (and the rest of Israel/Palestine since well before he was born) but until the 90s he does nothing (except fight the Soviets in Afghanistan), and then after we place soldiers in Saudi he is suddenly our enemy.

So there goes the notion of how they hate America because they are jealous.

To the extent that jealousy is the motivation (and I don't think it is the main one for almost anyone) it would be more a motivation for "the Arab street" and the type of unskilled, ill-equipped volunteers who showed up last minute to fight the US in Afghanistan and Iraq. I don't claim to know or understand what motivates people like Mohammed Atta.

Again I have to say this, not mean to be disrespect, but Americans just don't get it. People have different views of values, of the world. Americans talk more about individual values, the others don't. It's all because of their history, their past experiences, their tradition. Some people are more wary about the oppression by their own government, some are more wary about the foreigners, some are more wary about other religions. You got to understand not everybody think in America's way.

I think Americans understand that people have different views on values. Different circumstances that motivate them. But when you speak of them, what makes values so different that Americans and everyone else can't understand one another?
