...it is a damned if you do and damned if you don't.

Couldn't come up with a more pithy statement if I tried.

1.- Why the hell did the US support Saddam?

2.- Why the hell did the US infringe on Iraqi sovereignty to get rid of Saddam?

3.- If we do nothing, why the hell do we sit back and do nothing while Saddam (1) kills off substantial numbers of his people and/or (2) amasses WMDs.

And so it goes with every suspect regime.
