The Queen isn't handing out playing cards, with the faces of Kiwis she wants hunted down, dead or alive. > Jacob, I agree that analogies are descriptive rather than prescriptive and can only be stretched so far. If the Queen was back in charge, as a result of civil strife, the army and police would take orders from her. They'd issue playing cards to find the miscreants causing mayhem. Once the mess was sorted out, it'd be back to the locals. In Oz, there was a comparable constitutional crisis with urgent phone calls to the Queen in a grab for power. That was in the 1970s. In 1984, Muldoon looked as though he might not hand over power after losing the election, in which case the Governor General would have had to step in and, under consultation with the Queen, run NZ pending another election. In the USA, a hanging chad separated Gore and Bush. Rather than have a civil war, it was kicked upstairs to the Supreme Court to appoint their preferred King. King George II had a good ring to it, so they went with that. They didn't bother with another election, the USA not really being a democracy, contrary to popular opinion. Okay, I'm being a smart aleck there and the electoral college doesn't mean it's not a democracy and lawyers, please spare me the legalese that the Supreme Court was deciding the legality of a chad, not appointing anyone. I say rah rah rah for George II. Long live the King! Rule Britannia.... ooops, I mean Americannia. I know the USA constitution has stuff about foreign wars and conquest but let's face it that was a couple of centuries ago and that's AMERICA's oil the Islamic Jihadists are goofing around with. I prefer King George II's Viceroy to rule Iraq for now. The UN isn't fit to do so. Europeans are greedy, unethical, statist graspers. I'm busy. That leaves the USA. The first thing the USA needs to do is hold that Constitutional Conference on United Nations Rulz. They could do that in Iraq and use some oil sales to pay for it all. Also, use oil sales [to the highest bidder], to pay for Iraqi adminstration and elections. Also, establish a Iraqi constitution and get hire people to run it pending elections. Separation of church and state would be a good idea in the Iraqi constitution. Islamic Jihad wouldn't like that. Too bad. Jerry Falwell would like to be in charge of Washington too. Also, separate the judiciary. Open the borders to free trade and human movement and business movement. Mqurice
