i think you need to make a moderated thread. i myself would very much like to read the thoughts on SARS of people who have an idea of what they are talking about. if it takes a low-noise moderated thread to get them to post, then i think it's a good idea.

I like the idea of you creating a moderated technical thread that would be kept dedicated to very serious discussion/events and having a seperate thread for miscellaneous chat. This subject is serious enough by far that there should be a source of serious knowledgable thought unimpeded by the masses of the great unwashed (like myself) that like to dabble in nifty ideas and stories.
