I recall commenting that despite all the talk of Iraq being secular, we really have no way of knowing how secularized the Shiites are, since their religious expression has been so thoroughly suppressed. As soon as we liberated Basra, Iranian Mullahs showed up with a simple message for the Iraqi Shiites. "Is oil for the Jews." They had the signs preprinted in Iran. We have got to help the local Mullahs run the Iranians off. Use their tribalism to do it.
