Given the tragic events of September 11, 2001, all nonimmigrant visas should be immediately halted in the interest of national security.

The opposite is happening for sure. Immigration visas have been sharply cut with an emphasis on cutting refugee immigration visas.

I do not have info on non-immigrant visas...would like to know if anyone has that.

I agree. a couple of bad apples in a case is no reason to throw the case out. IMHO, In the recent boom days, Silicon Valley could not have functioned as well as it did, were it not for immigrants.
