:o( Am in the process of doing my taxes (Canadians have till month end) and even though we are allowed to carry back upto 3 years (for tax year 2002, carry back would be for 99-01 if you had paid any capital gains in those years), the destruction of capital, which took years to build, is incredible.. Too depressing to articulate..

Sarmad, thanks for the reply on what went wrong. BTW, it's entirely acceptable to me if a poster does not reply because he does not wish to. My most spectacular loss came a couple of years ago after I had discovered TOM: very low P/E ratio and even lower when calculated on forward earnings. I congratulated myself on finding this gem. So when it dropped I bought more only to discover later that earnings projections were lowered drastically. The lesson? Where there's smoke there's fire. Gottfried
