To counter declining tourist numbers, the Hua Hin-Cha-am Tourism Business Association has announced that operators of tourist accommodation, golf courses and spas in Hua Hin will offer discounts of at least 50 per cent.

"We are discussing all kinds of special packages that members of the association can jointly provide for tourists," said Manoo Tharmpipitchai, president of the association..

Manoo said that most of the association's 118 tourism-related firms would participate in the special packages. "Discounted prices across the board should be seen for the whole of August," he said.

Not concerned at all. Not concerned either about the Y2K bug. On Dec. 31st (my birthday) 1999. I went out and didn't take any reserve money. Celebrate my birthday and on the way back (already 2000) asked the taxi to stop at the ATM and withdrew some cash.

Went to sleep and it was a day like any other. I can recal the people druming up business to cash in on the Y2K scare that China and Brazil were not spending enough on the Y2K preventive measures.
