Lapham is the Editor of Harpers and MacArthur the Publisher and presumably owner. Enormously wealthy and independent. Same family as 'John and Catherine D. MacArthur' - who provided funds for so much programming on PBS

Raymond,

<...and destined to be a leader in any gulag that the Fuhrer assigns him to.>
????

As far as Lapham goes, I have been reading him since early 70s and even though his style is outdated, the fact that he has never fallen asleep on the job speaks volumes in and of itself. He has always been very responsible, aware and not afraid to speak out. Same applies to McArthur.

I still need to read "The Second Front", maybe this weekend...

Jason Vest writes mainly for the Nation. His conclusions are similar to those of Marshall, but the presentation is stronger.

Here is a link to his JINSA article from last year.

Marshall's stuff is on the www.washingtonmonthly.com and www.talkingpointsmemo.com .

The other book worth reading, is the reprinted and expanded version of Chomsky's "Middle East Illusions".

[Aside: sorry I did not provide the links, I assumed it was common knowledge and all this stuff is readily available through google.

At the same time, I must state that it hurts and scares me when the still quiet voice of the opposition is discredited and accused of misinformation.

Divide and conquer, eye for and eye, and black and white are the common tactics used by this administration. One must be careful not to oversimplify complex problems, under the risk of using the same modus operandi as the perpetrator.]
