Inflated SARS nrs. as people call their offices saying they have SARS-like symptoms and quarantine themselves. There goes up the nr.of SARS case. And an extra holiday is not that bad, is it?

As you see people in good health conditions, just because were at affected country, wanted holidays a.k.a quarantine.Slowly the company is taking the right steps and not reacting blindly. As this progresses the scare will settle down to its real size.

I reached this conclusion because the company I work for issue a warning about SARS and keeps updating us. But I noticed a sgnificant details on the last update:

QUOTE
Symptoms of SARS. The following combination of symptoms is necessary before a person is suspected of having SARS:

· Temperature over 100.4 degrees F (38 degrees C); AND
· Respiratory illness such as cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing; AND
· Travel to Hong Kong, China, Vietnam or Singapore, OR close contact with a person infected by SARS. Close contact means providing medical care or living with the person, or being exposed to coughing, sneezing, or bodily fluids from an infected person.

The illness usually begins with a fever. Other symptoms may include headache, chills, and body aches. Some people feel short of breath. Within two to seven days, SARS patients may also develop a dry cough and have trouble breathing.

Employees should regularly monitor themselves for fever. However, more than just a fever is needed before a person is suspected of having SARS. There must also be respiratory symptoms and either travel to Hong Kong, China, Vietnam or Singapore, or close contact with a person infected by SARS.

As you can see, anyone was reporting a common cold symptom and wanting to be quarantined! The company states now that it requires a combination of symptoms and the fact that you had been to those affected places to qualify for an extra holidays called quarantine.

Second:

QUOTE
Employees Returning from Travel-Restricted Areas:

· Employees that do not have SARS symptoms should be allowed to enter Motorola sites and/or return to work. They should not be isolated or quarantined for any period of time before being allowed onto a Motorola site.
· However, these employees must notify their occupational health department or environment, health and safety department that they have recently traveled to a Travel-Restricted Area.
