elmat,

Re: Looks like Sahaf, Iraq Minister handling this scare :-)

The one who has me concerned is Dr. Julie Gerberding, head of the US CDC. She wears that little flag emblem that is ubiquitous with all the right wing war party members.

She says things like:

"We still have no capacity to predict where it's going or how large it's ultimately going to be," Julie Gerberding, head of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) in Atlanta, Georgia, told the press.

Epidemic thwarts public health precautions
"We're...very sobered by the ongoing transmission in parts of the world, including Hong Kong where very, very appropriate public health steps have been taken, and yet the epidemic is continuing to evolve there," she said of the severe acute respiratory syndrome.

My antennae wouldn't be raised quite so high if I hadn't read the PNAC's white paper "Strengthening America's Defenses"

newamericancentury.org

In it, there is a short passage about the necessity of having U.S. biowarfare teams investigate race specific pathogens.
