I repaired IE starting from uninstall in the Add/Remove Programs Control Panel. I use Netscape as my default browser. IE made itself the default when repaired and all the image file icons were changed to something I had not chosen, but is probably the correct default for an image file from the IE icon set. I was thinking that making Netscape the default again might cause it to become the default program for opening these image files, but it did not. Netscape has been restored to the default browser, and the image files are now opening properly in IE.
