LOL. the UN is the one that passed the resolution for a final ultimatum. in fact, the ultimatum (1441) took longer to draft than the punishment did (the war).

if you are trying to defend the UN, you are going to have trouble given its record. no resolution was passed for Afghanistan or for Kosovo. 17 were passed on Iraq. the UN is only as strong as its enforcements. it can continue to debate, pass resolutions and even throw more lavish cocktail parties if it wants. however, the UN may now be irrelevant because of the proven impotence of some of its members.

The UN is a sad joke.

Name me one case where the UN has been helpful and not harmful.

Cambodia, Idi Amin, Rwanda, Kosovo, these are all negatives where the UN caused harm or stood by and did nothing.

Please inform me why the UN automatically deserves respect?
