OT: KLIC not leading edge..

Cary, (or as Nancy calls you, "Carl"),

KLIC has the leading edge wire bonder, but bonders are not the leading edge of packaging technology.

Scott Kulicke may well disagree with you. I believe he thinks and has stated that bonders, especially his leading edge bonders, will remain the most desirable packaging technology for many more years.

What do you believe is the leading edge of packaging technology?

Thanks
Ian

OT: On KLIC Canary or Red Herring?

There has been a long time assertion that the way KLIC business turns and its reflection in the company's stock action has predictive value for the semi equips and the SOX as well.

How accurate is it?

I would not have put any value on it at all either as a fundamental or technical leader. But for the sake of argument I have created a 2 year chart comparison of KLIC stock action to that of the SOX. It can be seen here:

investorshub.com

Today I see KLIC down a significant amount approximating a 10% loss in the stock's value. Stock Consultant is currently bearish on KLIC:

stockconsultant.com

If the stock is a Canary in the coal mine then tomorrow may not be such a great day for the SOX. If it is a Red Herring then the semi equips and the SOX should continue higher without noticing the rapid descent in KLIC stock's value.

Of course any similarity in the charts could be simply the fact that all semiconductors tend to trade in the same direction. The question here is simply does KLIC signal a direction change in advance of the SOX?

Keep watching those charts.
