Well, if the U.S. is under some sort of unprecedented terrorist attack, it's reasonable to conclude that our nation's capitol, Washington, DC, might be the next target. It's not rocket science or anything. I mean, even if there wasn't a Flight 77 that took off from DC and had turned around and lost radio contact, you'd think the prudent thing would be to scramble a few planes to defend DC in any case. Just to cover your ass.
