Have you forgotten geography...

<This news release is not clear. If this is the "India-Turkmenistan" gas pipeline, why would India be urged to participate? It must be already involved. Why should Pakistan need to urge India to participate?>

India can't be connected to the Turkmenistan and the Stans unless its through Baluchistan and Kandahar. The Stans are land locked and can only be tapped through Pakistan any future deals will have to involve Pakistan and India should be more open to doing economic deals with this critical neighbour.

<Also, the desire must be to take part in the pipeline project and make Pakistan some money in exchange for guaranteeing what? >

When the line will pass through Pakistani land there will be some royalties for Pakistan and now Sandeep let's be reasonable and do business. If Vajaypee is entangled with Pakistan through a gas and oil pipeline then Pakistan will be receiving a billion dollars a year from India. India is energy strapped and if Pakistan is dependent on Indian royalties then both nations will be restricted as to any aggressive actions. India has always been asking to move away from Kashmir and this is the only way to do so is to engage them in business. Poverty stricken love business rather than fanaticism.
