I wonder what health risks burning oil wells are associated with? I guess it doesn't matter since you only scrutinize the activities of our Government

James,

"Some worry that it [depleted uranium] could affect civilian populations -- especially children -- if it enters groundwater used for drinking water and irrigation."

Since the depleted uranium ammunition is typically fired at tanks and other hardened targets it's difficult to imagine how it could get into ground water. One is left wondering if the danger of this is a bit exaggerated by the reporter.

I sometimes think reporters hide behind words. In this case the phrase,"'some' might worry". Who exactly is worried? If it's a respected scientist with much expertise in this field why not mention his name? You know like, "Professor Smith is deeply concerned that depleted uranium could find it's way into the ground water."

Maybe it's only the reporter who is worried (or has an agenda).
