Secretary Powell has been so adamant that the case he presented at the United Nations was based on compelling evidence that he had seen, not just hearsay. Thus I have to assume that he, like others -- but especially he, Powell -- would have been very careful about presenting that evidence and standing by it," Serfaty said.



What is not generally realized is that Rumsfeld and the neocons will do anything, anything at all, including lieing to the secretary of state. Powell may not have believed that he was fed deliberate fabrications either, and that made his performace more convincing.
