A question to anyone who has read "See No Evil" by Baer, or seen a reference to the quote below.

He drops this thing like a bomb in the introduction and never alludes to it in the book. I am wondering, who is the reporter (Hersh???) and who is the other guy, and what was the intent?

The quote is found at the end of the preface.

'The other day a reporter friend told me that one of the highest-ranking CIA officials had said to him, off the record, that when the dust finally clears, Americans will see that September 11 was a triumph for the intelligence community, not a failure.'

This kind of stuff sends shivers up my spine.
