Hey pal, the 2004 race is on. Kerry (probably) versus Bush. True it's not a done deal, but unless something comes out of left field, Kerry is the man.

I'll therefore be one of tens of millions strongly backing Kerry once this is clear to the country. And give me some credit for picking the winner early. Just as I've picked every winner early since Jimmy Carter. Even picked Clinton before the first caucus. Why? Because I saw him on C-SPAN and realized his Methodist minister style (my mother's family from rural southern Illinois, the center of the USA) sounded so downhome I knew he could win over the key swing states. And he did. DESPITE the Gennifer Flowers scandal.

Anyway, I would prefer if Kerry were from southern Illinois but other than that, he's a really top-notch candidate. Much better than Gore or any of the rest. And since Bush's only issue is going to be war, so much the better to nominate a true war hero who's not just a retired military guy but a top expert on defense and foreign affairs. Kerry is called a "tough dove". He will appeal to semi-hawks, semi-doves, doves and even some hawkish vets. He can also remind voters than Bush was an AWOL deserter when it was his time to serve, a story which never really came out in 2000. So every time the GOP attacks Kerry on war issues, it boomerangs right back at Bush.

If being full of sh.t is a presidential quality I agree - Kerry's full of it.
