Kerry was for taking out Saddam long before GW Bush ever mentioned it. His position has been strong and hasn't changed. His speech on the Senate floor advocating going after Saddam was as forceful as any hawk's. But he wanted a Gulf War style UN coalition, not a small coalition of the cronies. And Americans agreed. Polls always showed Americans wanted a greater coalition, until the war was a done deal, then we just support the troops, hope for the best and get on with it.
