Have you considered business school ? ;-) The Newt Gingrich attack on Powell is evidence that the Neocons are losing out to the non-rabid elements. Karl Rove wants to get G.W. re-elected, and a new war won't do that. You may want to view this as the triumph of the crooks (mainstream Republicans) over the crazies (Neocons). Re: China & Opium - Look up Boxer Rebellion, and check Amazon. I think there are one or two really well written books about this, and a few movies. Opium wars are mentioned in many US high school history curiculums.
