gee this SARS thing is dragging university things up from the dark recesses of my mind that haven't been seen for 25+ years... :o)

My guess is that the throat swab they took, at the particular time they took it, just didn't contain any virus


Would you expect that much difference between the virus distribution and say strep in the throat ? That's a lot of discrepancy. Throat swab / culture seems pretty reliable for strep testing is the reason I ask. I'd expect someone to take that into account and maybe more fastidious after a few failures to match.
