(and thus have received little pro-American propaganda Is that the plan? Of course. All they know about us right now is what they've been told by Saddam and that pro-Arab press they can receive. There is no source for pro-American press in Iraq. Part of what has to occur over the coming weeks is to make the initial steps toward a free press. You have to remember the real reason for our being there: To begin to reduce the anti-Americanism and therefore begin reducing the terrorist threat (you may remember, this all started as part of the war on terrorism). The sooner we can get pro-American media in Iraq the sooner we'll start seeing an easing of anti-American fanaticism in the region. That's why we're there.
