I here there's a sudden huge demand in Iraq for cell phones and satellite dishes. Maybe we should liberate a few more countries as a way to jump-start the world economy.

Hello energyplay, we are either climbing a wall of worry or sliding down a slope of hope.

There are still a few bubbles to go kaboom yet, and so it may be too early to declare that winter is over.

I think we are just at the middle of autumn, and if stocks go up, it would be because of Indian Summer.

This is how I remind myself of what I may be dealing with ...

Six of the Fed's 12 regional banks reported conditions as "still mixed or soft." Five others said the pace of growth had slowed since the previous survey in December and early January

If this is what you consider "going from very lousy to just lousy" you are safe. You won't be kicked out of the club.

He (Richmond Fed)cited a list of positive forces that should boost growth, including the extremely low level of interest rates, increased federal spending and tax cuts. The continuing wave of home mortgage refinancings gives consumers more money to spend and a strong banking system has plenty of money to lend, he added.

If this is what he has in his arsenal I think it will be a while good news will come.

Lucent Grows Slightly, Loses Less

<<Is that what you mean by 'just lousy'?

April 23, 2003
Lucent Technologies Inc. Wednesday morning reported shrinking losses and a slight uptick in revenue, but executives warned that they still didn't see signs of recovery in the North American telecom equipment market.
Bottom Line: Lucent's quarter was on plan, but the company isn't saying what's in store for the rest of the year, other than the fact that it still intends to return to profitability.
