da, you forget about all the folks who automatically put their money in the market through 401k plans. They may not be speculating with junior's college fund, but they are most certainly in with their 401k's at their place of employment.

Speaking of retail, I know a retail chain in your neck of the woods who put an ad for a clerk opening in the local paper a few weeks ago. 3-years ago they'd have run that ad for a week and gotten about 12 responses, even offering a $1000 bonus. Most of the responses were trash 3-years ago.

Well, this time around they had over 100 responses in the first day, and had to cancel the ad after only 1-day. Many of the respondees were college grads, and they were offering no bonus.

Look in your backyard and you'll see things are not as rosy as you may believe. I've got my finger on the pulse of many of the major retailers across the country. You've got 3 major discount chains in your town, and two are in a state of desperation. The 3rd is not hitting its numbers but has a parent company who's trying to fix it.

Don't even get me started on the auto biz.
