As a result of the war, the April 15-21 polling found 31% of New Yorkers said they were more likely to vote for Bush in 2004. Twenty-eight percent said they were less likely to vote for the Republican and 38% said their position hasn't changed because of the war.

It's not surprising that Bush got a boost from the war against Iraq, even in a Democratic state like New York. But, I think it will ultimately be a wash as the above polling indicates. 31% more likely to vote for Bush, while 28% less likely to vote for Bush.

The Mideast is NO better off, possibly worse -- and now we have additional "white mans burden" given the USA's military efforts. They should have continued with containment and inspections -- Saddam was basically useless these last 10 to 12 years with no power/influence outside his own borders -- just like Fidel now in Cuba. The USA should have slowly but surely sabotaged/undermined his power through countless and relentless financial & diplomatic pressures.

We have accomplished very little (long term) in the Mideast as a result of our invasion. In fact there is a very good chance that we will have an extreme, fanatical, fundamentalist, Shite-Muslim, (more anti-Israel) government in place in the end. We may have done Israel a great injustice. Taking no count for the cost of lives and billions of USA taxpayer dollars. Be careful what you pray for.

Why isn't the media asking about the WMD -- I thought that was our motivation for invading Iraq!!! To date: NO WMD
