Zonder, if you check back, you suggested a perfectly good opinion but added that my differences were as a result of a lack of knowledge. But I forgive you <gggg>

I don't mind lenghthy posts just lengthy opinions that claim to be fact. You are not usually guilty of that.

Back to the opinions---

You, probably better than most here, know that what a Mideast nation says in the press is not necessarily what is says in private. I suggest that Kuwait and Jordan, as well as Syria, Iran, Saudi Arabia and others are jumping for joy. The leaders are jumping, the people are struggling to find some food.

Saddam's beliefs, character traits and history are relevant to how he would rule, particularly if we had left the "no-fly" zones and interference with his plans.

I don't agree with the BS about WMD. I think the admnistration put too much emphasis on this to try and "spin" France and others into coming along. I would have just called the spade a spade. Bush wanted him out because he was the longest reigning somewhat powerful tyrant, with continuing potential to harm millions of his own people and his neighbors through a multitude of resources.

I think there will be conclusive proof of WMD but, for me, it is just a tool, not the basic reason for toppling Saddam.
