Exactly how are the French, Russians and the SC going to prevent the US from allowing Iraqi oil to flow ?

I was wondering also... diplomacy is universally riddled with hypocrisy, but this latest dance on the part of France and Russia takes the cake. These people made a bad bet by supporting the Hussein regime, well I say tough shiite. The West is constantly writing off bad debts (France recently nulled out some significant Algerian debt if I recall, but the French taxpayer will foot the bill.)

In reality, France and Russia are simply not our real problem, we will have to deal with the situation in Iraq and the surrounding region of oil producing states above all else.

In reality also, if we hadn't acted to remove Hussein, he would pretty much have remained in power forever. Castro is still in power after all, as are many others who don't deserve the title of heads of state. But as long as people can do business, who cares. Even as little business as Castro gets, not to mention all the oil that was leaking out of Iraq via Syrian pipelines etc.

If the West really gave a rat's ass about the plight of oppressed people around the world, the West could collectively topple the tinpot dictatorships one after another, inside of 25 years they would all be gone, and in an economically feasible manner. But countries will never work together toward such a goal. It's just so much more profitable (and amusing) to use dictatorships around the world against other developed nations for this or that stupid motive.
