CB, I suppose the differences will be due to many variables. For example, Chinese smoke a lot more than Americans. Smoking damages lungs and makes any additional problem less survivable. So that'll be one variable. Japanese smoke heaps, but women don't [presumably that applies to Chinese women too]. Therefore, on the smoking variable, there should be more men than women in China dying of Sars. Epidemiologists must be happy as pigs in mud with Sars. What a great opportunity to practise their talents and with something that is of vital importance to people. It's more fun than looking for a needle in a haystack with things such as the effect of using CDMA2000 phones on brain cancer rates [the risk must be so close to zero that the cost of the studies probably exceeds the cost of the cancers]. Over-reaction will be economically disastrous, and might cause a LOT more damage than the disease. Under-reaction would be catastrophic. A few years ago I bought an excellent mask, complete with full face protection. I am looking forwards to wearing it downtown one of these days. I wonder if the price of them has gone up. I'm thinking of starting a mask export business. A big, cheesy, smile on the mask. Or, "Lift mask to Kiss Me". Mqurice
