True, if we panic, it's game over for the US$. Uncle Al has to pluck as many feathers from the goose as possible without causing it to flee in panic. He can print and print and print and as long as the promise to not get greedy looks okay to the rest of the world, things will be fine. I have US$ cash in my drawer and pixelated at the bank.

Uncle Al can run this one forever if the USA political system continues to stay on the rails. People do get greedy though. Maybe Americans will get greedy. It's a human failing as fleets of obese people can attest. Americans are not immune to greed.
